Crop For A Cause Hawaii!!!

For the past couple of weeks I have been busying organizing a Scrapbook Crop here in Hilo. See, on the mainland especially, there are lots of crops happening all over. In Las Vegas it seemed there was one every week and in Georgia I could easily find one at least once a month. Even on Oahu I could find a crop somewhere every few months...but in Hilo, not so much.

So what is a Crop?

It is a group (small or large) of avid scrapbookers who enjoy getting together, sharing their pages, getting ideas from each other and working on their own pages for a few hours without the kids or hubby interrupting and asking for this or that. some crops include demo's, goodie bags, snacks, or door prizes. And most only last a few hours. We have taken it to the next level with Crop For A Cause.

And what makes Crop For A Cause different?

Well....the event will be held for 12 HOURS! and you get GOODIE BAGS! and MEALS! and SNACKS! and chances to win DOOR PRIZES! Don't forget all the tools that will be available, and the samples and demonstrations and make & takes to get your creative juices flowing! Not to mention that it is for a good cause!

What Cause?

Our local Hawaii Island Food Basket where the proceeds and donations from this event go to help our community.

How do you register?

You can visit our blog: http://cropforacause-hawaii.blogspot.com and download the forms or stop by Island Scrapbooking in Hilo to pick up the registration and information packet.

How much does it cost to register?

The Crop fee is $40 if you register by June 12th or $50 after that. The fee reserves a table for you and your layouts and includes everything that I mentioned above! All you need to bring are your projects, a covered drinking container to prevent spills, and your scrap-happy self! Also, bring in at least 5 non perishable food items to donate to our Food Basket and get a second door prize ticket for more chances to win our fun prizes!

I am really looking forward to this event and hope that we have a fantastic turn out. It promises to be fun and inspiring and if all goes well, another crop can be planned before the end of the year!

Happy Scrapping!

A Boy at the Beach

Aloha!
Summer is here and although we have beautiful weather here in Hawaii year-round, I still think of hanging out at the beach during summer vacation. Now that my oldest son is in school, I can appreciate the summer vacation again, when all we had to think about was which beach were going to check out that day.

This card was supposed to be for a challenge two weeks ago that I really love. One of the best color challenges around comes from Kristina Werner and her blog. Like I mentioned, this was her latest color inspiration challenge and I kept telling myself "Post it & be done already!" But sometimes I can be quite a procrastinator (OK, most of the time. Hee hee) Better late than never right?

Supplies (all supplies used are Stampin’ Up! Unless noted otherwise)
Stamps Set –
Summer by the Sea
Cardstock – Pacific Point, Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White, Pacific Point DSP
Ink pads –Cool Carribean, Ballet Blue, Pacific Point, Going Grey, So Saffron, Creamy Caramel

Tools – Brayer, Sponge, Heat Gun, Sewing Machine, Big Shot, Nestabilities, Prismamarkers, Teextures Plate Kit #1, Versamark, Versamarker

It is hard to see but the little boy and sand castle are heat embossed and the little boys was stamped once on the original image and once on a scrap piece of paper, colored, embossed, then cut out and layered on top of the original for some dimension!

Happy Stamping!!!
