Crop For A Cause Hawaii!!!

For the past couple of weeks I have been busying organizing a Scrapbook Crop here in Hilo. See, on the mainland especially, there are lots of crops happening all over. In Las Vegas it seemed there was one every week and in Georgia I could easily find one at least once a month. Even on Oahu I could find a crop somewhere every few months...but in Hilo, not so much.

So what is a Crop?

It is a group (small or large) of avid scrapbookers who enjoy getting together, sharing their pages, getting ideas from each other and working on their own pages for a few hours without the kids or hubby interrupting and asking for this or that. some crops include demo's, goodie bags, snacks, or door prizes. And most only last a few hours. We have taken it to the next level with Crop For A Cause.

And what makes Crop For A Cause different?

Well....the event will be held for 12 HOURS! and you get GOODIE BAGS! and MEALS! and SNACKS! and chances to win DOOR PRIZES! Don't forget all the tools that will be available, and the samples and demonstrations and make & takes to get your creative juices flowing! Not to mention that it is for a good cause!

What Cause?

Our local Hawaii Island Food Basket where the proceeds and donations from this event go to help our community.

How do you register?

You can visit our blog: http://cropforacause-hawaii.blogspot.com and download the forms or stop by Island Scrapbooking in Hilo to pick up the registration and information packet.

How much does it cost to register?

The Crop fee is $40 if you register by June 12th or $50 after that. The fee reserves a table for you and your layouts and includes everything that I mentioned above! All you need to bring are your projects, a covered drinking container to prevent spills, and your scrap-happy self! Also, bring in at least 5 non perishable food items to donate to our Food Basket and get a second door prize ticket for more chances to win our fun prizes!

I am really looking forward to this event and hope that we have a fantastic turn out. It promises to be fun and inspiring and if all goes well, another crop can be planned before the end of the year!

Happy Scrapping!

A Boy at the Beach

Aloha!
Summer is here and although we have beautiful weather here in Hawaii year-round, I still think of hanging out at the beach during summer vacation. Now that my oldest son is in school, I can appreciate the summer vacation again, when all we had to think about was which beach were going to check out that day.

This card was supposed to be for a challenge two weeks ago that I really love. One of the best color challenges around comes from Kristina Werner and her blog. Like I mentioned, this was her latest color inspiration challenge and I kept telling myself "Post it & be done already!" But sometimes I can be quite a procrastinator (OK, most of the time. Hee hee) Better late than never right?

Supplies (all supplies used are Stampin’ Up! Unless noted otherwise)
Stamps Set –
Summer by the Sea
Cardstock – Pacific Point, Real Red, Basic Black, Whisper White, Pacific Point DSP
Ink pads –Cool Carribean, Ballet Blue, Pacific Point, Going Grey, So Saffron, Creamy Caramel
Accessories – Natural Twine, Dew Drops, Sea Shell Charm, Clear Embossing Powder, Black Thread
Tools – Brayer, Sponge, Heat Gun, Sewing Machine, Big Shot, Nestabilities, Prismamarkers, Teextures Plate Kit #1, Versamark, Versamarker

It is hard to see but the little boy and sand castle are heat embossed and the little boys was stamped once on the original image and once on a scrap piece of paper, colored, embossed, then cut out and layered on top of the original for some dimension!

Happy Stamping!!!

Challenge Post #1

Like I previously stated in my first post, I love to participate in card challenges. I just never posted or shared any of them before. So, today I want to share this card with you:

My favorite thing to do is to use to different challenges to complete one card, and the two I used for this card, are listed below:

1. Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper Challenge #120 My favorite challenge to inspire my creativity. The featured stamper challenge is posted on Saturdays and this weeks featured stamper, Mercy, has a fabulous gallery on SCS. I loved every one of her cards and took at least 3 rounds of looking at each and every card, before I decided which one to CASE (Copy And Share Everything). You can find her card here.

2. High Hopes Challenge #32 This week, a Sunday challenge, it was a color challenge using Pink and Brown. Easy, peasy. I love these two colors together and just could not wait to do this challenge.

Supplies: (all supplies used are Stampin' Up! unless noted otherwise)
Stamp Set- Heartfelt Thanks
Cardstock - Chocolate Chip, Pink Pirouette Textured, Regal Rose, Very Vanilla, Candy Lane DSP
Ink Pads - Regal Rose
Accessories - Markers: Pretty in Pink, Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Mellow Moss; Ribbon: Chocolate Chip & Pretty in Pink Grosgrain; Dazzling Diamonds Glitter; Pretties Kit, Circle Fire Rhinestone Brads;
Tools - Mini Glue Dots; 2-way Glue Pen; Sticky Strip; SNAIL; Stampin' Dimensionals; Paper Cutter; Scissors; Big Shot; Circle and Scallop Circle Nestabilities from Spellbinders; Sewing Machine and pink thread

It may be a little difficult to show but, the stamped flower was stamped a second time on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla CS, cut out and mounted with Dimensionals on top of the original stamped flower for a little "pop!", and the center of the flower was dusted with a bit of Dazzling Diamonds.

There are two things I am sure you will note about my cards: 1. I sew on almost all of them (inside and out!); 2. I use dimensionals all the time to make something "pop!" on my images. My cards just don't ever seem complete with out these two elements. Of course for classes and workshops I had to tone it down some and do much simpler cards, which is both a challenge and a joy for me!

I hope you enjoy my first posted card to this blog. I will try to get better at scanning my cards in to the computer (at least straighter, hee hee hee)...now I am off to try to post it to both SCS and the High Hopes Blog! Wish me luck!

Aloha!

My First Post

Wow! I finally have a blog! It took a few tries and more than a few hours, days, weeks even, to get one up and running...But I made it! Hee hee hee.

So, welcome to My Little Piece of Paper Heaven. As the title suggests, I am an avid paper crafter with an addicition for paper...and stamps...and inks...and paper flowers...and lots of little embellishments...ok, I LOVE it ALL!

The purpose of my blog is to share my addiction, I mean, creations with other crafting enthusiasts in the world of scrapbooking and stamping.

What do I love more? Scrapbooking or Stamping? That is the question! I enjoy both very much and when I can combine the two worlds together? Ahhhh...I am in Heaven! Paper and Stamp Heaven!!!

I have been a closet participant in the many challenges found on Splitcoaststampers and various other blogs and have now decided it is time to come out of the closet and share. I am very determined to participate and post them on their respectives websites and on this blog in order to push my creativity to its fullest potential. Also, I love feedback! Any feedback received, whether positive or negative,(as long as it is respectful and tactful) I welcome with an open mind and heart.

Thanks for visiting!

Aloha!
